Law of Attraction - a Little History

There has been a universal law operating since time began, yet it has not truly been researched and shared with the world until recently. This law is as predictable as the law of gravity, but the results of this law are not nearly as obvious and are harder to decipher. This is because the forces that operate by these laws are not tangible; thoughts and feelings are the forces that control this law.

This universal law has recently been given the name “Law of Attraction” and has finally been shared with the world. Throughout history this law was known only to the wealthy and those in power. They kept it hidden so only they would benefit from its power. This law was passed from one generation to the next in secrecy until a man named Wallace D. Wattles became aware of it in the early 20th Century.

Mr. Wattles was so astounded by this law he devoted the remainder of his life to teaching others how to apply it to improve their lives. He wrote several books explaining the law and how it could be used to benefit others. His books were lost for several decades until someone gave Mr. Conant of Nightingale Conant a little green book – it was a copy of Mr. Wattles’ book, The Science of Getting Rich. He was so astounded by this book, he chose to share it with Bob Proctor, a man who has spent many years teaching people the principles of prosperity and was one of the teachers in the movie The Secret.

A few years ago a woman in Australia was given a copy of this same book by her daughter. This woman was desperate at the time and her life was crumbling around her. She used the principles taught in this book to turn her life around, and gathered the resources and people she needed to share the incredible power of the Law of Attraction with the world. Her name is Rhonda Byrne, and she was the catalyst behind the movie The Secret, which introduced the world to the Law of Attraction.

In theory The Secret is wonderful, but it is only a two-hour movie, and just highlights the teachings and theories of Mr. Wattles. In essence, it gives the viewer a taste of what can be achieved by using the principles of the Law of Attraction. Unfortunately, the movie in itself does not give enough information to truly use the Law of Attraction to its fullest extent. In fact, there are many people who have used the teachings from The Secret, but have not achieved the results they wanted. They then assumed the Law doesn’t work, which is unfortunate, because the Law of Attraction is working all the time whether we realize it or not . . . good or bad, depending on what we are vibrating.  

What they don’t realize is that there is much more to the Law than what appears in the movie. To truly engage the Law of Attraction to achieve the life of your dreams, you must delve much deeper into Mr. Wattles’ teachings.

However, there was a temporary problem. Mr. Wattles wrote these books 100 years ago, and they tended to be a bit arcane. Basically, it is difficult to interpret his teachings into modern-day life. That’s where Bob Proctor comes in. Mr. Proctor has been studying and teaching Mr. Wattle’s theories for decades and has translated the original teachings into a form that resonates with people today.
