Energy Profiling - Testimonial

Carmen Brandt Wolf

Do you ever feel there is a battle or struggle going on in your head? One part of you really wants to focus on something, while another part of you says, “that’s stupid, we need to focus on this.” Who wins? Do you have one part that almost always wins?

I used to get so frustrated because one part of me was always project focused . . . get busy, conquer and move on. The other part of me wanted to take some time and make sure everything was perfect and organized. Definitely contradictory! There were times where there was quite a battle going on. The new project/conqueror usually won, leaving the perfectionist behind, but the perfectionist didn’t sit still quietly, and she usually managed to sabotage something along the way.

I could never figure out why, when I made what I thought was the correct choice, I would still do something stupid to sabotage myself. It just wasn’t logical! I knew better, but I just couldn’t help myself.

Then one day I ran across Energy Profiling. This is a process which separates traits into four distinct energy types based on the elements of nature. Energy Profiling teaches that certain traits are connected with the elements. Everyone has traits from all elements, but everyone has a primary and secondary element that truly defines who they are.

A very important aspect of Energy Profiling is to realize that none of the energy types are good or bad in themselves; it all depends on how you manage and use them. Every type has positives and negatives, and once you know your energy type, you can base your actions and reactions on that knowledge.

Once I understood this, I finally understood why these battles occurred and why I was sabotaging myself. I realized the part of me that I thought was a detriment could actually be used as an asset along with my other positive traits. I also realized that when I accommodated my primary energy type (the perfectionist) as well as my secondary energy type (the conqueror) I was much more productive and creative. I was able to complete projects I had been struggling with for months, and the results were much better than I had ever dreamed.

One word of caution - this isn't a "figure yourself out quick" process. This takes some time and reflection, but it is well worth it!
